A little piece of paradise only 26 miles off the coast of the Ventura Harbor...It takes about an hour by boat to get to Santa Cruz Island Scorpion Ranch. We carried all our gear for a half mile to the campsite. The island is beautiful with rolling green hills and awesome views of the coast for miles around. It's "leave no trace" style camping, so everything we packed in came back with us. The low human impact helps perserve that feeling of unspoiled remoteness...it's easy to channel Thoreau.
